Iranian security warnings on psychological warfare

Iranian security and military officials have issued warnings regarding external psychological warfare and hybrid threats aimed at undermining social cohesion and public trust.

Initially, officials including the Deputy Commander of the Iranian Law Enforcement Force highlighted efforts to incite unrest in Kurdish-populated border regions through proxy groups. The Iranian Army also warned that adversaries are shifting from traditional military threats to media-driven tactics designed to spread doubt and hopelessness.

This focus on information warfare was echoed by Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) representatives in Khuzestan, who stated that modern victory is increasingly determined by accurate reporting. Officials warned that the United States and ‘Zionism’ utilize false news and psychological operations to manipulate public opinion following military setbacks. In response, Iranian officials have called for domestic media to engage in ‘clarification jihad’ and honest information sharing to counter misinformation.
