Iranian security warnings regarding hybrid warfare

Iranian officials have issued warnings regarding the threat of hybrid warfare, emphasizing that modern conflict has expanded beyond physical borders to include digital spaces, psychological manipulation, and cultural infiltration.

In Sanandaj, Seyyed Mohammad Sadat of the Islamic Propagation Coordination Council of Kurdistan warned that adversaries use a combination of unrest, assassinations, and targeting civilians to force the country into submission. He specifically highlighted the danger of cultural and ideological infiltration, where external currents exploit societal gaps to alter beliefs and decision-making. Sadat noted that media and cyberspace are being used to exert influence over younger generations.

Following these concerns, military and police leaders expanded on the necessity of vigilance. The Commander of the Borujerd Police stated that conflict now involves “smartphones, minds, and digital spaces,” urging citizens to guard against fake news and cyber threats. Additionally, Army Commander-in-Chief Amir Serlashkar Hatami noted that after failing in traditional military arenas, adversaries have shifted toward economic sanctions and pressure to incite domestic unrest. He affirmed that the armed forces remain on high alert.
