Irish urban regeneration funding allocations

Overview

Ireland has initiated a series of urban renewal projects through the €409 million Towns and Cities Regeneration Investment Fund.

Initial allocations focused on Donegal and Laois. In Donegal, €14.7 million was designated for Letterkenny to support a transport hub, a cultural corridor, and green connectivity projects. In Laois, €7.65 million was assigned to Portlaoise and Portarlington, with the majority funding the Fort Museum and Event Centre.

Subsequent funding distributions expanded to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown and Galway City. Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council secured €17.1 million for six projects, including the repurposing of a vacant building in Sandyford and walking and cycling improvements in Dundrum. In Galway City, €15.45 million was allocated to five redevelopment initiatives, notably the Kingston Park recreational infrastructure and the Ceannt – Augustine Hill project to enhance the city centre and transport connections.
