Irregularities in Mexican Social Security Institute provider
Overview
The Mexican Social Security Institute (IMSS) has faced several instances of provider misconduct involving fraud and data privacy violations.
In early August, the Secretaría Anticorrupción y Buen Gobierno (SABG) sanctioned provider Eliana Díaz Magaña, barring her from federal contracts for two years and imposing a fine. The sanction followed findings that she supplied false information regarding 120 units of Limustin Tacrolimus 1 mg, an immunosuppressant used to prevent organ rejection.
By late August, IMSS permanently canceled contracts with two companies linked to Grupo Salinas, identified as NECSUS and Creaciones Tecnológicas y Digitales Jim. These companies were removed from the IMSS Provider Registry for Integrity (REPIIMSS) after investigations revealed they had transferred institutional databases to a third party, UPAX GS, for address verifications without explicit consent. An internal investigation is ongoing to determine if public officials were involved in any misconduct regarding these contracts.
