Overview

Violence escalated in the West Bank involving both Israeli and Palestinian casualties. In the northern West Bank near Jenin, an Israeli military operation resulted in the death of a Palestinian man, Sami Hassan Hussein Zawaideh, after forces opened fire on a vehicle. Israeli forces alleged the vehicle was part of an attempted car-ramming attack.

Simultaneously, an Israeli citizen, Netanel Shakron, was fatally shot near the Neve Tzuf settlement while performing ritual immersion at a spring. In response to the shooting of the Israeli citizen, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu ordered the demolition of the attacker’s home and directed the military and Shin Bet to reinforce their presence in the West Bank through closures and offensive operations. National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir has called for the application of a recently enacted death penalty law for terrorists in connection with the attack.
