Israeli enforcement of labor and security regulations
Overview
Israeli authorities have intensified security and labor enforcement operations targeting Palestinian workers from the West Bank. In late August, police and National Guard forces conducted large-scale operations in Tayibe and Qalansawe, resulting in the arrest of 18 workers accused of lacking legal permits and the seizure of firearms, ammunition, and suspected narcotics.
By the end of the month, these enforcement efforts expanded to include Jerusalem and the Tel Aviv area. Authorities arrested dozens of undocumented workers, including 18 individuals discovered hidden in a truck compartment. These crackdowns have also targeted employers suspected of hiring undocumented staff.
Parallel to the labor enforcement, Israeli police conducted operations in Jerusalem regarding the desecration of religious sites, arresting individuals suspected of vandalizing Islamic graves and the Armenian Patriarchate complex.
