Israeli military operations in the Gaza Strip

The Israeli military has expanded its control in the Gaza Strip, occupying between 67% and 70% of the territory. This movement follows the crossing of a previously established “yellow line” that had restricted military presence to approximately 53% of the area. As military control grows, hundreds of thousands of displaced Palestinians have become crowded into a narrow coastal belt stretching from Khan Younis to Gaza City.

Ongoing military operations include heavy artillery shelling, tank fire, and the construction of earthen barriers in central, northern, and southern Gaza. These actions have isolated specific areas, such as Qizani Rashwan and Al-Najjar, from Khan Yunis. Medical sources report that the death toll from the conflict has reached 73,386, with 174,250 injuries recorded since October 7, 2023.

While Israeli security institutions have discussed plans to reduce troop numbers and return deployment to pre-October 2023 levels due to logistical challenges, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has maintained the necessity of dismantling Hamas. Meanwhile, Hamas has expressed commitment to a roadmap discussed in Cairo, calling for international pressure on the Israeli government to adhere to peace processes.
