Italian Democratic Party local leadership reshuffles

In July 2026 the Democratic Party (PD) continued a wave of local leadership changes across Italian municipalities. On 19 July, the Pescara congress elected Claudio Mastrangelo as city secretary, appointing Annalisa Libbi as president of the city assembly and outlining a neighbourhood‑focused listening tour.

On 28 July, the Macerata congress unanimously chose Mario Iesari as city secretary and Alessia Scoccianti as president of the party assembly, renewing the executive board and naming Raffaele Berardinelli treasurer.

Later that day the PD announced further reorganisations in several towns. In the southern coastal town of Cirò Marina, Nicodemo Bastone presented a new secretariat with an agenda centred on environment, culture, welfare and citizen participation. In Marino, Marco Comandini and Daniela Pace were confirmed as local leaders after criticism from former mayoral candidate Fabio Mestici. Additional moves included a meeting with the Comites of San Marino on issues affecting Italians abroad, a provincial assembly creating an internal “Liberi e Uguali” area in the Sannio region, Samuele Ciambriello’s resignation from the provincial secretariat, and the election of Maria Fiorillo as council leader in Vibo Valentia. These actions illustrate the PD’s broader effort to reinforce internal cohesion and adapt its organisational structures at the municipal level.
