Italian immigration enforcement and deportations

Overview

Italian immigration authorities in Agrigento and Cosenza have conducted several enforcement operations targeting irregular migrants with criminal records.

In Agrigento, police executed multiple deportations and transfers, including the repatriation of two Gambian citizens via commercial flights. One individual was deported following an expulsion decree due to drug offenses and resisting officials, while another was repatriated after re-entering the country irregularly through Lampedusa. Additionally, a Romanian citizen was transferred to the Caltanissetta Repatriation Center (CPR) following a prison sentence for robbery and theft.

In Cosenza, authorities ordered the detention of an irregular migrant at the Bari Repatriation Center. The individual, identified through monitoring in local correctional facilities, has a history of offenses including rioting in repatriation centers, resisting public officials, and aggravated thefts on public transportation. The transfer was ordered by the Prefect for reasons of public security while repatriation procedures are finalized.
