Italian patron saint festivals

In late July 2026, several Italian towns staged traditional patron saint celebrations. Lucca’s Sant’Anna neighbourhood marked its patron saint on July 26 with daytime masses that concluded with blessings for pregnant women, grandparents and seniors, followed by an evening procession of the saint’s statue through the city’s streets and a final gathering at a local sports field with fireworks and refreshments.

A few days later, other communities continued the observances. In Casaglia, residents honored Saint James on July 25 with a procession, liturgical rites and a communal dinner, while also dedicating a nearby park to the late parish priest Don Attilio Dal Pra. In Trani, a free children’s program during the Night of San Nicola invited youngsters to walk a pilgrim route to sites linked to the city’s patron saint, fostering awareness of local religious heritage.
