Italian prison music and vocational programs
Overview
New musical and educational initiatives have been launched in Italian prisons to support inmate rehabilitation and professional reintegration.
In Milan, the Bollate Prison inaugurated a renovated music room designed for musical, educational, and therapeutic activities. Coordinated by legal-pedagogical official Simona Gallo and supported by the Fondazione Antonio Carlo Monzino, the project aims to provide stability to educational programs through the involvement of qualified professionals and volunteers.
In Rome, the Rebibbia Nuovo Complesso male prison launched the ‘Un’altra musica’ project through a collaboration between Fondazione Santo Versace and Intesa Sanpaolo. This initiative established a professional recording studio and a vocational training program for sound technicians. The program is intended to provide inmates with specialized skills in fields such as audiovisual production, podcasting, and digital content to facilitate their return to the workforce.
