Italian prostitution exploitation crackdown

Overview

Italian authorities dismantled a criminal organization through ‘Operation Medusa’ following a multi-month investigation. The group, which operated between Isola Capo Rizzuto and Crotone, was dedicated to the exploitation of prostitution in various locations, including streets, private homes, and a local hotel.

Eight individuals, including seven foreign nationals and one Italian citizen, are under investigation for charges including criminal conspiracy, aggravated sexual violence, and serious threats. As a result of the crackdown, four suspects are in custody and two are under house arrest.
