Italian regional infrastructure funding

Overview

Italy is allocating significant funding toward regional infrastructure projects. In early August, the Interministerial Committee for Strategic Sectors approved a €106 million refinancing plan for the Central Adriatic Sea Port System Authority. This funding is intended for seven strategic projects across the ports of Ancona, Ortona, and Pesaro, involving works such as dredging, pier reinforcement, and quay upgrades.

Later in August, CIIP was awarded a €100 million non-repayable grant via the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) for the Pescara Aqueduct project. This investment, managed by Invitalia, aims to modernize water infrastructure to improve efficiency and resilience in the Piceno and Fermano territories.

Expanding on these water management initiatives, CIIP S.p.A. is part of a larger €171 million plan to renovate the Pescara Aqueduct (specifically lots 2, 3, and 5). This project is designed to enhance structural safety and resilience against seismic events and climate change. Additionally, Consac Gestioni Idriche has secured over €46 million for a project spanning 2027 to 2030 focused on the “Districtualization and digitalization of the Cilento and Vallo di Diano supply and distribution networks.” This initiative aims to reduce leaks and improve service quality through the installation of smart meters and pressure sensors.
