Italian regional road safety and infrastructure demands

Local authorities and residents in various Italian regions are demanding urgent infrastructure and road safety improvements to address chronic traffic issues and safety risks.

In the area spanning Colleranesco to Villa Pozzoni, stakeholders are calling for immediate interventions on State Road 80 and within the Industrial Nucleus. Concerns follow fatal and non-fatal accidents, with residents seeking measures such as speed cameras, speed bumps, and ‘Zona 30’ limits. There is significant criticism regarding the long-term timeline of the Teramo-Mare project, which may take a decade to complete.

Simultaneously, the mayors of Longano and Castelpizzuto have petitioned the Province of Isernia to use administrative surpluses for the redevelopment of the SP 21 highway. They cited deteriorating surfaces, narrow sections, and precarious bridges as major hazards for residents and heavy vehicle traffic. Local officials have also requested an urgent technical meeting with the Prefect of Isernia to address delays in promised surveys and traffic light installations.
