Italian rugby pre-season test matches

Overview

Italian rugby clubs conducted pre-season test matches to prepare for upcoming competitive seasons.

In mid-September, Rugby Rovigo Delta defeated Rugby Parabiago 49-26. The match served as a development tool, utilizing different lineups for experienced players and younger athletes. The event also included a briefing by referee Andrea Piardi regarding new World Rugby maul rules.

By early October, Fiorini Pesaro Rugby secured a 33-19 victory in a test match against a newly promoted Serie A side in Gubbio. Coach Marcelo ‘Tato’ Martino noted the team demonstrated strength in lineouts and mauls but required improved discipline. This match preceded Pesaro’s Serie A1 season debut scheduled for October 18.
