Italian tax credit and investment regulations

Italy is managing various tax credit systems to support different sectors of its economy. In the film and audiovisual industry, stakeholders are awaiting €80 million in additional tax credits to support the production chain and leverage new talent from digital platforms. Under existing laws, the Ministry of Culture manages incentives that allow companies to offset corporate income tax, VAT, and social security contributions.

In the broader business investment sector, the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy has extended deadlines for Transizione 4.0 investment communications. For material capital goods completed by June 30, 2026, the submission deadline has been moved to September 15, 2026. This extension includes companies previously excluded due to exhausted resources, as funds are reassigned chronologically from withdrawals or underutilization.

Additionally, the Agenzia delle Entrate has clarified eligibility for the ZES Unica tax credit, confirming that leasing investments made in early 2026 remain eligible even if the contract and delivery occurred before formal preventive communication, provided the project began after the measure was implemented.
