Italian youth civil protection training camps

Youth civil protection training camps titled ‘Anch’io sono la Protezione Civile’ (I am also Civil Protection) have been conducted in various Italian locations to educate children on emergency response and prevention.

In San Ferdinando di Puglia, the VSF3 Civil Protection association held its eighth camp for children aged 10 to 14. The program included training in first aid, emergency management, drone and canine search techniques, and forest fire prevention. In collaboration with the Carabinieri, the camp also addressed social safety topics such as bullying and cyberbullying.

In Alfonsine, a similar five-day initiative involving approximately twenty children aged 10 to 13 focused on regional emergency systems. Participants engaged in a simulated hydraulic emergency and red alert at the municipal building to observe the activation of the Municipal Operations Center. This program, organized by Pubblica Assistenza Città delle Alfonsine alongside regional and local authorities, aimed to teach youth how to recognize local risks and respond to extreme weather events like floods.
