Italian youth safety education initiatives

On 28 July, local police in the Carnia mountain community organized road‑safety sessions for about a hundred children, covering road signs, safe walking, cycling and scooter use, and demonstrating police equipment. A police dog unit also performed search‑and‑rescue drills. Simultaneously, the Italian Coast Guard ran a two‑day marine‑safety program for participants of a school‑camp and a summer camp, emphasizing beach behaviour and environmental protection as part of the “Mare e Laghi Sicuri 2026” operation.

The following day, the new Acquario di Livorno marked its 16th anniversary with family‑focused activities, including a turtle‑feeding experience for a limited group of children. In Sant’Agnello, the municipality launched the “I Custodi del Mare” project, a series of beach‑based workshops and storytelling sessions aimed at fostering respect for the marine environment.

Together, these initiatives illustrate a coordinated push by Italian local authorities and community organisations to educate children on both road and marine safety, combining practical demonstrations with interactive environmental programmes.
