Italy-South America economic mission

Overview

An Italian economic mission led by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani has traveled to South America to strengthen industrial and commercial ties, particularly within the framework of the EU-Mercosur Agreement.

In Brazil, a delegation of approximately 90 to 100 Italian companies met with officials, including the President of the Federation of Industries of the State of São Paulo (Fiesp), to discuss investments in sectors such as energy, pharmaceuticals, and industrial machinery. While the mission seeks to expand technological exchange and automation, discussions have been influenced by commercial tensions regarding the European Union’s suspension of Brazilian beef imports.

The mission also extended to Argentina, where high-level meetings were held with Foreign Minister Pablo Quirno to explore investment opportunities. The delegation, which included representatives from ITA Airways, aims to bolster bilateral trade and air connectivity between Italy and the Mercosur region.
