Jack and Thien An paternity dispute

A paternity dispute between singer Trịnh Trần Phương Tuấn, known as Jack, and Trần Nguyễn Thiên An has proceeded through the Ho Chi Minh City court system. Initially, the civil trial was postponed following a request for absence by the plaintiff, Tuấn, who had filed a lawsuit in March 2025 seeking legal recognition of a child born in April 2021. At that stage, Thiên An expressed disagreement with his requests and noted that the burden of proof rested with the plaintiff. During subsequent court proceedings, the dispute centered on parental rights and financial support. Thiên An stated that while Tuấn provided approximately 106 million VND in support between 2020 and 2022, she has been solely responsible for the child’s upbringing since 2022. While she did not contest the biological relationship due to existing DNA testing, she rejected the singer’s specific requests regarding parental rights. The court advised the singer that public figures must maintain discretion regarding their private lives and emphasized that parental responsibility involves more than just financial support. On September 22, 2026, the People's Court of District 2 in Ho Chi Minh City concluded the trial. Based on DNA test results, the court officially recognized Mr. Tuấn as the biological father of the child, referred to as bé Đ. The ruling affirmed that Mr. Tuấn holds the full rights and obligations of a father, including the right to visit and the duty to love, care for, and educate the child, provided such actions do not harm the child's interests. Following the verdict, Thiên An stated she respects the court's decision and is willing to support Jack in visiting their daughter, noting she has never prevented him from fulfilling his duties.
