Jakarta Kramat Jati vendor and infrastructure project

The Jakarta Provincial Government is undertaking an urban reorganization project in the Kramat Jati area to restore public space and alleviate traffic congestion along Jalan Raya Bogor. The initiative involves constructing new sidewalks and curbs to improve safety for pedestrians and motorists.

As part of this effort, approximately 614 street vendors are being relocated to various designated managed locations (Lokbin) and markets. This includes 193 fishmongers being moved to the Kramat Jati Lokbin, 331 individuals to Pasar Kramat Jati Sector 7, and others to Lokbin Cililitan or markets managed by Perumda Pasar Jaya. Governor Pramono Anung described the approach as being “more humanistic than traditional evictions” by providing proper trading spaces. To assist with the transition, the government is waiving monthly retribution fees for the first six months.

While the relocation has reportedly decreased traffic congestion in front of the Kramat Jati Market, some vendors have raised concerns regarding customer accessibility and parking at the new sites.
