Shinichi Isa, a spokesperson for the Centrist Reform Alliance and former diplomat, noted that bilateral relations have reached their “lowest point since the normalization of ties in 1972.” This diplomatic friction has already impacted economic relations, resulting in trade restrictions and disruptions in the flow of rare earth minerals. In response to the mission, the Chinese Foreign Ministry has urged the Japanese government to take concrete actions to create conditions for normal exchange.
