Japan free summer homework programs

In late July 2026 Japanese cities began offering free, structured support for elementary and junior‑high students tackling summer assignments. Kyoto Research Park launched a month‑long "Summer Homework Support Week" (July 23 – August 25) at the Ajiawashi food‑culture museum, featuring hands‑on food‑culture activities, cooking demos and science‑based experiments such as density‑tower projects, all aimed at bolstering students’ research work.

A few days later, Higashi‑Osaka City opened a complimentary "Homework Café" (July 21 – August 21) within its Multi‑purpose Center, providing a quiet study space and free juice for up to 21 children daily. Additionally, Meta Osaka ran two Roblox workshops in August, teaching participants to create a sports game and compile a summer‑research report.

Both initiatives reflect a coordinated effort by local authorities and private partners to promote educational engagement during the Japanese summer break.
