Japanese department store winter gift seasons
Overview
Major Japanese retailers have commenced their winter gift seasons, known as Oseibo. Takashimaya began opening gift centers in the Kansai region on October 30, with Kanto locations following on November 4. The retailer is offering thousands of items, including a special “Asian Gourmet Travel without a Passport” feature.
Other department stores, such as Iwataya in Fukuoka and Korinbo Daiwa in Kanazawa, have also launched seasonal sales. Iwataya is marking its 90th anniversary at its Tenjin location with collaborations between Iwataya Mitsukoshi Farm and local producers, featuring regional sweets, breads, and seafood. In Kanazawa, Korinbo Daiwa has opened a gift center highlighting Hokuriku culinary culture, with a specific focus on products from the Noto Peninsula to support regional recovery efforts following the Noto Peninsula earthquake.
