Japanese dining and confectionery shop closures

Overview

In late September and October 2026, several dining and confectionery establishments in Japan announced closures.

In late September, the Nihonbashi Mitsukoshi Main Store’s tea room, ‘The TEA ROOMS’, scheduled its closure for September 30. Around the same time, the premium ice cream brand Hobson’s announced it would close its final parlor in the Ariake Garden shopping complex on September 23, ending the brand’s physical presence in the country.

In October, local specialty shops also ceased operations. The pudding shop ‘Tamago no Hatsumei’ in Funabashi scheduled its closure for October 10, alongside the discontinuation of its product vending machine at Aeon Takane Kido. Additionally, the pastry shop ‘Indies Kashimashi Tarumi Lounge’ in Matsuyama announced it would close on October 12, though its parent company, F.F.D. Co., Ltd., intends to continue operating other locations.
