Jeddah urban development and infrastructure projects
Overview
The Jeddah Municipality has undertaken several urban development and infrastructure initiatives in alignment with Saudi Vision 2030.
In late September, the municipality officially renamed the Jeddah Corniche Road to ‘Prince Khalid Al-Faisal Road’. The renaming honors the Governor of the Makkah Region for his contributions to the urban landscape and development of the region. The Mayor of Jeddah, Ihsan bin Abbas Bafaqih, described the Prince as the ‘engineer of development’ due to his oversight of major infrastructure and waterfront projects.
By mid-October, development efforts shifted toward road expansion projects, specifically the development of a 1,900-meter section of Prince Majid Road. This project aims to increase the road's width to 52 meters to improve traffic flow and connectivity to King Abdulaziz International Airport and residential areas, supporting the Quality of Life Program.
