Jorge Enrique Martí centenary commemorations

Various locations in Entre Ríos, including Concepción del Uruguay, Colón, Pueblo Liebig, San José, and Villa Elisa, are holding a series of cultural activities to mark the centenary of the birth of Jorge Enrique Martí. The writer, journalist, and cultural manager is being honored during a ‘Centenary Week’ scheduled from September 8 to 14.

In Colón, the tribute involved a municipal declaration of interest and an ordinance naming a section of the Camino Costero Norte after Martí. In Concepción del Uruguay, the agenda features academic presentations at the National University of Entre Ríos (UNER), conferences on Martí’s work, and the premiere of the documentary ‘Martí, escritor entrerriano,’ produced by TV UNER.

The opening ceremonies included local officials and members of Martí’s family, who gathered to honor his legacy and his contributions to regional publications and UNER. The program of events includes school exhibitions, debates, poetic recitals, and musical performances, such as a free evening at the Scelzi Auditorium featuring the Atahualpa Puchulu Trío, Marita Londra, and the Entre Ríos y canciones ensemble.
