Jovanka Porsche luxury train conference project
Overview
Entrepreneur Jovanka Porsche launched ‘Ways into the Future’, a pilot project using luxury trains as a ‘rolling think tank’ to facilitate dialogue among influential figures. Funded by the Vienna-based think tank Global Neighbours, the initiative aims to provide a more efficient alternative to large-scale events like the World Economic Forum.
The journey follows a route inspired by the historic Silk Road, traveling from Duisburg, Germany, through Istanbul, Samarkand, and Almaty, before reaching Xi’an, China. The initial group of approximately 80 participants includes scientists and political professionals such as Armin Laschet, Philipp Rösler, and former Austrian Chancellor Christian Kern.
On October 18, the luxury train departed Duisburg to begin its scheduled journey, which concludes on November 4. One carriage has been converted into a conference room where participants are set to discuss topics including artificial intelligence, food security, and the space economy.
