Judo Grand Slam Budapest competition

The Judo Grand Slam in Budapest featured competitive performances from several European athletes.

Slovenian judokas secured multiple medals, including a silver for Kaja Kajzer Žabkar in the under 63 kg category after a close overtime loss (0:1) to Japan's Megu Danno. David Štarkel won bronze in the 60 kg category, and Gal Bertalanič Žižek secured a victory in the 100 kg category. In the under 78 kg category, Metka Lobnik reached the semifinals following victories over competitors from Croatia and France, before losing to Japan's Mao Izumi. Additionally, Nace Herkovič finished fifth in the 81 kg category.

Serbian competitors also achieved notable results, earning points toward Olympic Games qualification. Mihajlo Simin secured a silver medal in the under 81 kg category after a final against Japan's Yoshito Hoyama. Simin, representing Red Star Belgrade, noted that the result provides momentum heading into the World Championships, despite expressing some dissatisfaction with officiating during the final match. Vasilije Grujičić also competed in the under 81 kg category, reaching the semifinals and finishing in fifth place after being eliminated by a Moldovan athlete.
