Jujuy Justicialist Party internal election dispute
Overview
The Justicialist Party (PJ) in Jujuy has moved toward internal elections scheduled for August 30, 2026, following a dispute over candidate lists. The party’s Electoral Board authorized only one list, ‘Generación Valiente’, which is led by Senator Carolina Moisés and headed by former national deputy Carlos de Aparici.
The board disqualified the competing ‘Celeste y Blanca’ list, led by Deputy Rubén Rivarola. The disqualification was based on the determination that Rivarola’s group attempted to reconstruct its electoral proposal after the deadline by making over 300 modifications, including candidate substitutions and departmental list replacements. While Rivarola appealed the decision and requested a suspension of the electoral schedule, the electoral authority has officially recognized the ‘Generación Valiente’ list.
