Junín earthquake response in Peru
Overview
Following a magnitude-5.1 earthquake in the Junín region of Peru on July 18-19, the Ministry of Education announced the deployment of 83 modular dome-type classrooms. These prefabricated structures, equipped with furniture and solar protection, are intended to allow 44 schools to resume classes while permanent repairs are conducted. President Keiko Fujimori visited the disaster zone to pledge assistance for the more than 5,300 displaced persons and the dozens of damaged schools.
