Kanał Sportowy broadcasting dispute
Overview
Mateusz Borek, co-owner of Kanał Sportowy, initially offered his platform as a potential alternative broadcaster for Raków Częstochowa’s European cup matches. Borek suggested his coverage would be “looser and more interesting” than Polsat, which holds the exclusive legal broadcasting rights for the 2026/2027 season in Poland.
Following a live stream of a UEFA Conference League qualifying match between Raków Częstochowa and Hajduk Split, the situation escalated when the Kanał Sportowy YouTube broadcast was abruptly terminated. The disruption was caused by Mediastalker, an AI anti-piracy company, which flagged the stream as illegal.
Borek contested this action, asserting that the transmission was legal under their contract for all regions excluding Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina. He criticized the company for incorrectly labeling the legitimate broadcast as pirated and announced that Kanał Sportowy intends to seek compensation.
