Kaohsiung social housing applications

In July 2026 the Kaohsiung municipal government expanded its affordable‑housing program with two separate projects. On 19 July it opened applications for the Daliao social‑housing complex adjacent to the Daliao MRT station, a 384‑unit development in which 40 % of the units are reserved for married couples with children or expecting a child, and additional units are set aside for seniors, youth, indigenous peoples and first‑responder families. Applicants must be adult residents, students or workers in Kaohsiung, own no home in the city and have a household income below NT$59,395.

A week later, on 31 July, the city announced the opening of applications for 43 units in the Kaixuan Qingshu project in Lingya District. The offering includes one‑, two‑ and three‑room units with rents tiered by income, the lowest one‑room price starting at NT$3,590 per month. Eligibility criteria mirror those of the Daliao project. Applicants enter a lottery on 4 November, with move‑in slated for late December 2023 and tenancy beginning 1 January 2024. The Kaixuan Qingshu building incorporates universal design, green‑building and smart‑building certifications, and provides on‑site childcare and retail.

Together, the two announcements illustrate Kaohsiung’s ongoing effort to increase affordable housing options for families, seniors and other priority groups through multiple newly built, self‑managed complexes.
