Karoline Leavitt transition to Fox News

Overview

Karoline Leavitt, the former White House Press Secretary, is set to join Fox News as an on-air contributor beginning November 1. Leavitt, who stepped down from her administration role in late August to focus on her family, was noted for her role as a defender of President Donald Trump.

Fox News CEO Suzanne Scott stated that Leavitt’s experience in the White House and on the presidential campaign trail offers a “distinct understanding of today’s political landscape.” This move follows a pattern of personnel transitions between the Trump administration and the network, similar to the career path of former spokesperson Kayleigh McEnany.

The announcement occurs amidst public friction between Donald Trump and Fox News. Trump has used Truth Social to criticize the network, alleging that programs such as ‘Fox & Friends Sunday’ have failed to provide adequate coverage of his recent rallies in states including Ohio, Alabama, Texas, and Oklahoma. He suggested the network’s focus on Democrats and critics could lead to a loss of viewers.

In a recent Instagram Q&A, Leavitt provided further context regarding her departure from the White House in August 2026. She noted that the role required working over 60 hours per week and being on call 24/7, and she stepped down to spend more time with her two children. During the session, she described President Trump as “kind and uplifting” and “hilarious,” arguing that the media often fails to portray those qualities.
