KIA Tigers lead KBO Playoff series 1-0 over Samsung Lions

Overview

The KIA Tigers secured a 5-1 victory against the Samsung Lions in the first game of the KBO League playoff series at Daegu Samsung Lions Park. The match, originally postponed from October 25 due to rain caused by Typhoon Champy, took place on October 26.

KIA's offense was bolstered by home runs from Harold Kastro, who hit a two-run shot in the third inning, and Han Jun-su, who added a solo home run in the fourth. KIA starter James Naile delivered a strong performance through 4.1 innings but was ejected in the fifth after a 147km fastball struck Samsung batter Park Seung-gyu in the head. Following the ejection, Jeong Hae-young provided relief to help maintain the lead.

Samsung's starter, Chris Fedde, struggled, allowing five runs over 4.2 innings, while the Samsung lineup managed only two hits.

Ahead of Game 2, both teams have implemented significant lineup adjustments. KIA Tigers manager Lee Bum-ho has utilized strategic rotations, selecting Lee Ho-yeon as the number two hitter to replace Park Jung-woo and reintegrating outfielder Kim Ho-ryeong into the starting lineup.

To address the lack of scoring in Game 1, Samsung Lions manager Park Jin-man has moved Choi Hyoung-woo to left field to maximize hitting potential. Samsung also plans to utilize Ariel Jurado as the starting pitcher to counter the KIA lineup. KIA currently leads the five-game series 1-0.
