Kenya national education assessment and examination updates

The Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) released feedback reports for the 2025 KJSEA, KPSEA, and KCSE assessments. The KJSEA results indicated that 75 per cent of the 1,130,459 candidates reached or surpassed the ‘Approaching Expectations’ level, with girls outperforming boys in 10 of 12 learning areas. Subject performance varied significantly, with Hindu Religious Education seeing high success rates while Mathematics and Kenyan Sign Language recorded the lowest proportions of learners meeting expectations.

Following these results, educational bodies began preparations for the 2026 examination cycle. The Nursing Council of Kenya opened applications for the November 2026 Online Licensure Examinations. Simultaneously, the Teachers Service Commission (TSC) and KNEC initiated personnel assignments for the 2026 KCSE, KJSEA, and KPSEA exams. To maintain integrity, the KNEC CP2 online deployment system was implemented to prevent staff from being assigned to schools where they have worked within the last three years, and teachers are required to declare any conflicts of interest.
