Kerala state government first 100 days assessment

Following the first 100 days of Chief Minister V D Satheesan’s administration in Kerala, the government and opposition have presented conflicting assessments of the state’s progress.

Chief Minister Satheesan highlighted several initiatives, including the maritime-focused Mission Samudra, welfare measures for ASHA workers and women, and the anti-drug drive Operation Toofan. He also formally requested Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s intervention regarding a Railway Board decision to transfer the Mangaluru area from the Palakkad Division to the Mysuru Division, arguing the move was made without state consultation and threatens Kerala’s railway infrastructure and revenue.

In contrast, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) criticized the administration, with state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar alleging the government has failed to meet election promises and has increased state debt by Rs 12,500 crore. The BJP further accused the government of failing to generate employment, failing to attract investment, and using communal politics to distract from economic and corruption issues.
