Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys relationship details

Overview

Actress Keri Russell has shared insights regarding her long-term relationship with partner Matthew Rhys during an appearance on the ‘Dear Chelsea’ podcast.

Russell addressed why the couple, who have been together since 2014, has not married, describing the institution as ‘antiquated.’ She noted that having children together provides a sense of permanence and that modern social and financial shifts have reduced the necessity of formalizing relationships through paperwork. She also clarified that Rhys’s omission of her during recent Emmy Award acceptance speeches was intentional, following her suggestion to ‘take me off your plate’ to help manage his public speaking nervousness.

Reflecting on their history, Russell described the intensity of falling in love while filming the series ‘The Americans.’ She noted that the couple finds value in spending time apart, calling it a “gift” for maintaining individual routines, though the demands of their respective professional projects can make frequent visits difficult.
