Knowles-Rowland community initiatives in Houston

Overview

Beyoncé, Kelly Rowland, and Tina Knowles have launched community-focused projects in Houston, Texas. On October 13, the group celebrated the grand opening of the Knowles-Rowland House, an $8.4 million redevelopment of the former Knowles-Rowland Center for Youth. The facility provides 31 permanent supportive housing units for individuals experiencing chronic homelessness, offering access to mental health counseling, substance use treatment, and life-skills training.

Following the housing opening, the focus expanded to maternal health. Tina Knowles and Kelly Rowland are partnering with birthFUND to serve as team captains for the inaugural Third Ward Mile on November 28. This nonprofit community walk aims to raise funds and awareness for the Black maternal health crisis in the Third Ward neighborhood.
