Overview

Construction has commenced at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra for a new 400-bed Mother and Child Block. This facility is intended to replace the hospital’s existing maternity unit as part of a broader government investment in health infrastructure.

The planned complex will offer specialized services including obstetrics, gynaecology, labor and delivery suites, and an Emergency Obstetric Care Unit. Critical care capabilities will feature Intensive Care Units (ICU), High Dependency Units (HDU), and Neonatal Intensive Care Units (NICU).

Additional services will include an In Vitro Fertilization (IVF) and Assisted Reproductive Technology Centre, diagnostic imaging, laboratories, a blood bank, and a central pharmacy. The site is also designed to function as a clinical training hub with research and conference facilities.
