Krafton PUBG franchise expansion
Overview
Krafton is expanding its PUBG franchise through new game development and live service collaborations. The company announced PUBG: DED. NET, a spinoff title that integrates battle royale gameplay with roguelite progression and a 1990s-inspired “Grunge House” aesthetic. Creative director Dave Curd noted the project aims to build a dedicated fandom through unique, potentially divisive gameplay rather than mass-market appeal.
Simultaneously, Krafton is enhancing the existing PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS through a limited-time crossover event with the anime JUJUTSU KAISEN. The collaboration introduces themed visual elements to specific areas of the Erangel map, character-inspired outfits, and progressive weapon skins. On PC, the event runs from September 10 to October 14, 2026, while the console version is scheduled from September 17 to October 22, 2026.
Alongside this crossover, the version 43.1 update introduces significant gameplay changes. New combat mechanics include a bare-handed kick action to repel players or break objects like windows and doors. Movement updates have increased swimming and diving speeds by 25%, and players can now use handguns and projectiles while on water surfaces. Additionally, players can now pass items directly to teammates without using inventory slots, and light machine guns (LMGs) have received balancing adjustments to aim speed, recoil, and spawn rates.
