Kutablang Bridge reconstruction in Aceh

Overview

The reconstruction of the Kutablang Bridge (Krueng Tingkeum Bridge) in Bireuen Regency, Aceh, has reached completion. The bridge, which serves as a vital national access road connecting eastern Aceh to North Sumatra, is being rebuilt following its collapse during flash floods in late November 2025.

By mid-September 2026, the project had reached 95 percent physical progress and entered the asphalt paving stage. The reconstruction, overseen by the Ministry of Public Works and executed by PT Adhi Karya, involved a 149.7-meter duplication project with a contract value of Rp107.5 billion.

On September 20, 2026, the permanent bridge was officially opened to public traffic. Although the project faced a temporary delay during the transition from emergency response to reconstruction phases, the completed structure now facilitates movement on the national route between Banda Aceh and Medan.
