Kyocera printing technology developments
Overview
Kyocera Corporation has announced new developments in printing technologies targeting industrial and commercial sectors.
In late September 2026, the company detailed the KMH series, a new type of thermal print head for mobile barcode label printers. Scheduled for mass production in October 2026, these heads utilize proprietary design technology to improve pulse resistance. This enhancement allows for stable printing quality in refrigerated and frozen environments, which require higher printing energy for adequate ink density. The compact design of the KMH series is also intended to support the manufacturing of smaller, lighter mobile devices.
Further expanding its technological offerings, Kyocera announced the November 2026 launch of the KJ4A-EX600RC-HX circulating inkjet print head. Designed for the label and package printing sector, this model features an expanded ink viscosity range and supports applications such as white ink, varnish, and foil decoration. The head uses a unique circulation structure to prevent ink sedimentation and drying, enabling high-speed printing of up to 100m/min.
Technical specifications for the KJ4A-EX600RC-HX include an expanded ink viscosity range of 8-11 mPa·s and a maximum droplet volume of 21 pL, representing a 23% increase over the previous KJ4A-AL model. This technology aims to meet the demand for digital printing, facilitating small-lot, high-mix production with reduced environmental impact.
