L3Harris defense contract expansions

Overview

L3Harris Technologies has secured several major defense contracts to support U.S. naval and missile defense capabilities.

In late September 2026, the company was awarded a $139 million contract by the U.S. Naval Sea Systems Command to provide Low-Profile Masts (LPM) for Virginia- and Columbia-class submarines. These systems are intended to replace traditional periscopes with telescoping arms featuring high-definition visible and infrared imaging to enhance stealth and situational awareness.

Shortly thereafter, L3Harris secured a $6 billion contract from Lockheed Martin to expand propulsion production for the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) system. This seven-year agreement involves constructing a new manufacturing facility for THAAD Solid Rocket Boost Motors. Additionally, the company entered a multi-year agreement with the Naval and Air Warfare Center to increase production of critical components for the BMG-109 Tomahawk cruise missile, supporting a goal to eventually reach annual production of over 1,000 units.
