La Palma elderly care infrastructure expansion
Overview
La Palma is undergoing expansions to its sociosanitary infrastructure, specifically targeting elderly care services. Initially, the Cabildo de La Palma announced the expansion of the La Dehesa residence, which involves adding 59 new places through the renovation of the facility’s second and third floors. This project is supported by the Next Generation EU Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan.
Following this, the municipality of Los Llanos de Aridane launched a public tender for a new elderly residence and day center. This project has a budget of approximately 31.08 million euros and is intended to provide 120 residential places and 50 day-stay spots. Sergio Rodríguez of Coalición Canaria characterized the tender as a “historic fact for La Palma” aimed at meeting urgent local demands.
