La Palma local government subsidy programs

Overview

In early October, the People's Party criticized delays in processing subsidies for youth associations in La Palma. Although the budget for these groups was increased from 80,000 to 120,000 euros, officials warned that funds might not be distributed until the end of the year, impacting cultural and social planning. During the same period, the Breña Baja City Council introduced study grants for the 2026/2027 academic year, allocating 35,000 euros for students studying off-island and additional funds for school supplies.

By late October, the Cabildo of La Palma expanded its subsidy offerings to include residential renewable energy and electric vehicle infrastructure. A combined initial budget of 23,000 euros was established to support individuals who installed small wind turbines or electric vehicle chargers between January 1, 2025, and October 26, 2026. The electric vehicle initiative provides up to 50 percent cost recovery, capped at 250 euros per person.
