La Plata municipal environmental and social programs
Overview
The Municipality of La Plata has implemented environmental and social welfare programs. The environmental initiative focuses on the collection of used vegetable oil, with over 71,000 liters recovered to date. This material is transported to a plant in San Miguel to be recycled into biofuel, a process involving local residents and gastronomic establishments to prevent soil and water contamination.
Alongside these environmental efforts, Mayor Julio Alak’s administration has launched a weekly agenda of community activities. These programs aim to provide social care, prevent violence, and improve access to rights through initiatives such as animal welfare programs for children and workshops regarding gender-based violence awareness.
