Land clearance and infrastructure delays in Hue

Various development and preservation projects in Hue are experiencing significant delays attributed to land clearance and compensation disputes.

In the Hue Citadel restoration project, construction is stalled because over 360 households have not yet handed over their land. While some areas have reached 70% completion, specific sites remain blocked by individual households refusing to relocate, leading project management boards to request municipal intervention regarding resettlement rights.

Separately, a planned Class I rest stop on the Cam Lo - La Son Expressway has faced nearly a decade of delays. Despite a revised investment plan and completed site planning, the project cannot proceed until local authorities recover 13 land plots belonging to the Tien Phong Forestry Company and local households.

Recent updates indicate that construction has resumed on the Vy Da and Nhu Y River bridge upgrades following a change in contractors, with a target completion date set before the 2027 Lunar New Year. Regarding the Vy Da Bridge expansion, which has remained unfinished for five years since its 2021 commencement, the Chairman of the Hue City People's Committee, Le Tri Thanh, has ordered contractors to increase manpower and implement overtime shifts to accelerate the project and improve urban connectivity.
