Las Vegas tourism and gaming economic trends

Las Vegas is navigating a period of economic divergence. While the city saw a 7.5% decline in total visitors in 2025, reaching 38.5 million, gaming revenues have shown resilience. In July, nonrestricted gaming licensees generated $1.388 billion, a 2.07% increase over the previous year, with the Las Vegas Strip contributing approximately $776.3 million.

Despite the rise in gaming revenue, airport traffic at Harry Reid International Airport has declined, falling 7.6% year-over-year in July. This downturn in passenger volume, largely driven by domestic travel, follows a 9.3% drop in June. Travelers have also cited rising costs, such as resort fees and parking rates ranging from $20 to $40, alongside aging facilities at older resorts as factors discouraging visits.

To counter declining visitor numbers, the city is leveraging a heavy entertainment schedule. High-profile events, including major music tours and festivals, are being used to bolster tourism and offset the reduction in total passenger traffic.
