The organization Te Protejo recently published a report identifying over 20 laboratories across countries such as Chile, Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Mexico, and Peru that are utilizing alternative testing methods. This scientific advancement aims to provide the industry with cost-effective and rapid alternatives that align with international standards.

Building on this regional momentum, a legislative initiative has been introduced in the Argentine Congress to prohibit animal testing for cosmetic, personal hygiene, and perfume products. Sponsored by Deputy Gabriela Estévez, the bill seeks to ban the use of animals for safety and efficacy testing, as well as the manufacture, import, and commercialization of such products. If enacted, the bill proposes a 36-month implementation period, which would make Argentina the 46th country globally to implement such a ban.
